Smart Programmable Thermostat

Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Wire strippers
  • Level
  • Drill (optional)

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Turn Off Power: Turn off power to your HVAC system at the circuit breaker to prevent electrical shock.
  2. Remove Old Thermostat: Carefully remove the cover of your existing thermostat and disconnect wires, labeling each wire with provided labels.
  3. Mount Backplate: Position the Lux 500 backplate on the wall, ensuring it's level, and mark screw holes. Drill pilot holes if needed.
  4. Connect Wires: Connect labeled wires to corresponding terminals on the Lux 500 backplate (R, C, W, Y, G, etc.).
  5. Attach Thermostat: Align the thermostat with the backplate and press firmly until it clicks into place.
  6. Restore Power: Turn power back on at the circuit breaker.
  7. Initial Setup: Follow on-screen prompts to configure time, date, and heating/cooling preferences.
Warning: If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, hire a qualified HVAC technician for installation to ensure safety and proper operation.

Programming Modes Explained

Heat Mode

Controls heating system only, with programmable temperature settings for energy savings

Cool Mode

Controls cooling system only, with separate programming for air conditioning

Auto Mode

Automatically switches between heating and cooling based on room temperature

Emergency Heat

For heat pump systems - uses auxiliary heat source during extreme cold

Off Mode

Turns HVAC system off completely while maintaining time and program settings

Hold Mode

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Blank display Power loss, dead batteries, tripped breaker Check circuit breaker, replace batteries, ensure 24V power
